USDOC FLASH

T he United States Department of Counter-Terrorism (USDOC) emblem, or "flash", is typically worn as a miniature device upon the beret or other headgear which unit members wear. The basic shape of the flash is based upon a shield--the universal symbol for protection and safety. The deep blue color of the field represents the loyalty and honor of public service.

A s with the USDOC logo, the three stars and the single lightning bolt represent the three major divisions in the command structure of the Department and the swift, unified might with which the USDOC may strike against its enemies. The blue ribbon which has been unfurled beneath the shield symbolizes the unit's quest for excellence and bears the name by which the USDOC has become most widely known--"Lightning Force".
